Théatre St. Denis, Montréal
graphite, ink, and oil pastel
9"x 7" (22.9 x 17.8)

The Théatre St. Denis is the blurred building in the mid-ground. The view is looking west from La Grande Bibliothèque, Montréal's new public library.

I know nothing of the Théatre St. Denis, other than that was the name on the building. The name was originally visible in the drawing above the three small windows in the centre of the building.

The initial drawing was done in pen and pencil and was fairly uninspiring. Instead of throwing it out, I decided to rework it in oil pastel, which I think has improved it considerably.
