This is the first of two studies for an oil painting. I like it, more than the second: Lake Michigan No.2. It's simplicity seems quite convincing.

The second study which is posted below, seems a little dull.

This view of the lake is from the shore north of the beach at Whitefish Dunes State Park in Wisconsin. The park is northeast of Green Bay and Sturgeon Bay.

Wisconsin has some lovely beaches on Lake Michigan, as well as an excellent network of state parks.
