Sawyer Harbour, Wisconsin
gouache
11.4 x 17.8 cm (4.5" x 7")

Sawyer Harbour is part of Sturgeon Bay, which opens on to Green Bay. Green Bay is the distant body of water in the painting. They are all part of Lake Michigan.

The view is from a watch tower, built in 1932, in Potowatomi State Park. The park is just north of the town of Sturgeon Bay.

There are actually a couple of islands in the harbour, which I've left out of the painting. In this case, I thought less was more.

The painting is sketch for a larger work.
