"I don't think I see the truth." - Truman Capote

I opened a book of quotes this morning, and this was the first one that I saw.

Nude

oil on canvas 30.5 x 25.4 cm (12" x 10")

Yesterday's painting revised.  Not much better, if at all.  The shadows are pretty dull this time.

Looking Strange

oil on canvas 30.5 x 25.4 cm (12" x 10")

There's something odd looking about the arm and leg.  The arm might be too thin and too short.  I'm not sure about the leg.

The cropping of the figure doesn't help either.

If I redo parts of this painting, I'll repost it.

Work in Progress

Currently at work on this one.  It's 3' x 6', and still work to be done.

Monday, January 16, 2017

I'm now working on a new book, A Different Class of Murder: The Story of Lord Lucan by Laura Thompson.  It's rather long and convoluted, but still, a fascinating and sad story of a 1974 murder in Belgarvia, London.

Winter Study

This is the second colur study of this scene that I've done. The study's not finished yet.

Monday, January 09, 2017

I finished the Wes Moore story.  It's not bad, although I preferred the Robert Peace book.

I also finished an account of the Shackleton expedition by Alfred Lansing entitled Endurance.  It's a  comprehensive history, and well written.  It probably won't inspire you to go off to Antartica.

Smile

oil on canvas 30.5 x 25.4 cm (12" x 10")

Last night's effort.  About two hours of painting time.

Thursday, January 05, 2017

I'm now on to another book:  The Other Wes Moore by Wes Moore.  It's similar to The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace in that it also deals with the troubled life of an inner city kid in contemporary America.

I finished The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace by Jeff Hobbs.  It was well worth reading.  There's no happy ending.

December Study

oil on paper 17.8 x 50.8 cm (7" x 20")

This was intended as a study for something larger.  It still may be.  I'm not sure how I feel about it, though.  I may just give it some time before deciding what to do with it.
